Anyone ready for May 30th? I think I am.. Still haven't run the truggy since May16 race. Need to figure out my lean conidition after 10 minute mark.. Wierd..

LMAO
I would guess it's a front bearing, or like DMYERS said change the fuel lines and maybe even the tank. Your tank could be leaking from the lid.. Sometimes when the tanks get old the cap doesn't seal very well.

Thanks Sean.. I think the Mid Speed needle needs bumped out a touch. It had been running really cool, until I put in the 6mm carb insert. Leaned out HSN for about 2 hours to comp for this. It'll run heats with no problem and still only be 225ish after 5min.. Ran 9+min in practice at last race date and was @ 236 at end of run. But in the Main, it had been running awesome, but over heated and died and wouldn't stay running after 12 minutes.. Was good at 7 minutes when I pitted, died coming up stand outa fuel.. I bumped the MSN in a touch before breaking to flush like the manual called out. Dalton thinks I need to move it back out.. And I am thinking he is right.. We'll get it sorted eventually..

Um I have only had this engine apart twice.. Once when I got it, to seal it. The 2nd time was 4 weeks ago when I resealed because of fuel around the carb.. ONly to find out it is spitting fuel into the air filter neck and some how running out of that. Engine is sealed...
check the tank and fuel lines.
I have some new fuel line still in package that i am think of installing, but not sure that it will do much good, cause the line on there now has less than a gallon through it..

you may already know this but to make a change in the mid mixture without chaniging the ls mix you must move the lsn exactly the same amount in the same direction. for instance if the msn moves towards the right side of the vehicle 1turn the lsn needs to do the same. if not the lsn will become lean by the amount the msn was moved. the same is true in the other direction except rich will be the rusult.
i explained that badly someone help me out here.

yes. it makes more sense when you look into the throat of the carb and move the throttle open and watch the lsn exit the msn.

LEt me ask this. I leaned the MSN before ever starting this engine. Should I bump the Msn out with out touching the LSN? Or move them both together and then retune the LSN from there?

maybe i should retract my previous statement. Maybe you should jb weld one of the needle holes after you take it out. That thing has holes and needles everywere. LSN, HSN, MSN, Idle Needle, Cross stitch needle.... Sorry got carried away. I will stay away this time, Ha ha .

Hey now I'm putting a RX8 system in my 8t 1.0 to play with around the house, and I can tune the crap out of motors. That said I hate 3 needle carbs, most of the time you need to set the mid needle and leave it alone. Don't ask me why I'm putting a racing system in my basher. It's just as expensive as all the other systems tho. The way it's goning I'll never get it built.

Keep in mind Sean I was just give Foote a hard time.. I like the idea of plug and race. but I can't control the out put of a nitro engine let alone the torque and power of electric.. Them things rip and it is intantaneous.

I'ld like to make my CRT a test mule for engines after I pick up another Truggy.. I plan to also test electic set ups too.. Will cool to be able to have back to back comparisons from the same vehicle.. See what advantages and disadvantages each set up might have..
But, I'm gonna wait until the winter and try to pick up the new MBX6T. Sweet looking ride.. And will prolly be my next big purchase..

The cool thing about electric is with the on board programing on the esc and the x-po and end point adjustments on the radio. the programing adjustments are limitless.you can make one run just about anyway you want. And they never flame out :) Allthough they do have a tendency to blowup or melt down from time to time :confused2:confused2

The blowing up and melting down is what makes me not want electric. That along with all the extras I'ld have to buy.. The motor/ESC ain't that big of a deal to me. It is the $150+ batteries, and a $200+ charger that keeps me from gettin into the elecrtic scene.. Adn we all know batteries don't last forever and I am gonna guess the best ESC will last 2 years tops along with the batts. It all prolly weighs out nearly the same as nitro in the same course of time. So the deciding factor is the smell and sound for me.. I know not everyone agrees with that. I am also sure that there are times when electric can be run when nitro can't.. Nitro still does it for me better than electric. At least for now..

Yeah it really is An even choice. I just hate dealing with all the hassle of running nitro with the constant tuning and clutch maintenance. It just aint worth it. But every now and then you find that sweet spot where the motor just runs perfect. and they can be alot of fun. I had a NTC3 onroad car with a nova mega 12 that was perfect. Sean Thomas set the motor at the start of the season And I never touched it again for the rest of the year never even changed the glow plug all year and it never flamed out. Man that was some of the most fun I ever had racing RCcars.

The cool thing is I have talked to some people at Tekin and they will replace anything that happens to break or meltdown. I think Castle is the same way... The only thing that bothers me is the cost up front, by the way chargers are a little cheaper than $200..

Yeah but the best ones run $100-$150 fairly commonly.. Not saying I won't build an E powered machine one day, it'll just be for fun more than anything at least in the beginning.

I think with one more summer to get everything sorted out 1/8 scale electric will be prity trustworthy. about like a 10 scale. Set it up right and it almost never quits. you can spend all your time on chassy tuning. And with the car having the same power every time you run it . It makes tuning alot easier to

Other than an over heating issue while using a 6mm carb insert it runs and tunes with 0 problems. Using same glow since I finished breakin. Nearly a full gallon, and still running strong..

20 min mains are plenty long for me anyway. and I think I should be able to go 30 min with my new setup.. mmm on 5s with a medusa 1600 kv motor and 5000 zippy battery. think I may get one of those new tekin motors. 159.95 that is about 100.00 cheaper than a nue. And you can get the zippy's for 109.00 for the 5s 5000. electric doesn't have to cost a arm and a leg
