I know this has been covered somewhere before but I wanted to ask before I dropped the $$$$ on a new motor. What is the rule for brushed or brushless motors for the stock truck/buggy classes ???????????????

Sat night they put 13.5 with the 27t stuff. So if your going to buy buy 13.5 stuff cause 27t is not as fast niether is 17.5 this is at Fastlane.
Good luck!!!

They did put the 27T/17.5 motor'd trucks in with the "super stock" 13.5 class. If they are going to continue to run the 13.5 (which is eqivalent to a 19t motor) with the 17.5, then I say go ahead and purchase the 13.5 (that's what I just did.)
I guess we really need Steve to step in, and let us know what his intentions are. I'm down with running a 19T/13.5 Super Stock class. I would rather run this than the 17.5/27T class.
IDK the true answer!

Ya not complaining but I was running 27t and the 13.5 stuff was alot faster than me in the two straights but could catch them in the infield just think is a little unfair that is all.

the only reason they put the 13.5 in stock cause there was no other 13.5
stock brushless = 17.5

I know there was at least three 13.5s in there but maybe there was not enough 27 and 17.5s?

There were not enough stock trucks, so they put THEM into the Super Stock class. I just want to know what people are inteding to do (as does Joe). If everyone wants to run a super stock class, I'm down.... I just want to know what others are planning on running. Desn't matter to me, but I don't wanna be the only 17.5 running with 13.5's.

well, the chilli boys decided to show up with there 13.5 super stock trucks when mike and steve were gone. so josh and i decided just to throw all the stock/superstock trucks together since there wasn't a class for the superstock. i know that second place was stock but stock is 27t brushed or 17.5 brushless like the clown said. i'm sure if enough 13.5s showed up they'll run them in a separate class. if only one or 2 show up they'll have to run mod. you'll have to find out for sure from steve mike or chuck.

i know how you feel about motors. a while back i tried to run on the carpet and always had the wrong motor. i plan on having 3 motors for my t4. the 13.5, 17.5, and a hotter mod, either a 7.5 or 8.5.
i think that last saturday, less motor may have been a +. i don't know if it was the heater or what but traction wasn't that great.

I just bought a 13.5 today, so I could have a motor for this weekend, but it looks as though I will not be running a stock class again this weekend.
ya you will need to hear from Steve or Chuck to see what they will be doing in General the 17.5 is the "Stock" class and the 13.5 is the "super stock" class. Personally I would love to run the 13.5 but each track has their own rules. so before jumping the gun make sure you know the facts. Hate to have to spend more money than one needs to.
In my opion the 13.5 is perfect. Keeps everyone simular but yet enouph motor to make a few jumps. Im pulling for the 13.5 but once again need to find out the track guidlines. As Charlie stated you would probably get away with running the 13.5 but not at the Turkey shootout!
Just wanted to add more! Im like Charlie as well. I believe I am buying the FT4 Tomarrow! I already have the 10.5 I think or hopeing its plenty of motor for the mod. But gonna make switching to the 13.5 or the 17.5 easier! Love trucks. And have always been rather good from going to a stock to mod in my truck. Let me know as soon as you do.
Charlie I had the 8.5 in my Losi Truck and it seems just a bit to loose with it! Think I would rather drive and hit my marks than worry about tunning down my motor becuase it had to much power. Just a thought!

Well, I'm gearing up for the shootout! I'm gonna be running buggy and truck for the event. It will be a TON of fun!

yeah, i'm gonna try and run 4wd, mod truck, and slash.
i'm going to try the old 5800/8.5 that's in my 4wd in my truck, if it works i'll buy a 7.5 for my 4wd.
4wd and Mod. truck is what im leaning to as well. Throwing the brushless system in my truck and run brushed in the 4wd. The brushed in the 4wd I think fits better trying to shove all that stuff on one side! Plus the Novak has allot of wires. Wish I could afford another brushless system but in time I will.

I'm going to be running mod truck AND stock buggy. Looking at how I did last week at Fastlane, I should be able to run mid-pack with all of you mod truck guys... As far as the buggy goes, I just hope to make it to the A Main (LOL!)

13.5's will not be allowed to run in stock classes. we (myself and josh) goofed last saturday. we should have put them in mod truck. if 3 or more people show up with them and don't want to run mod, they could add a class. that's coming from what steve said last night. i know he likes to keep it simple, stock/mod. if every three guys showed up with different turn motors it could get stupid, example:
mod truck
mod buggy
stock truck(27turn brushed 17.5 brushless)
super stock(13.5)
pro stock(10.5)
outlaw stock(8.5)
see what i'm saying!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool thanks for checking with Steve. I just wanted to be on the safe side before I bought a motor.

So for a 1st timer in stock (xxxtmf) any suggestions on baseline gearing for stock?

i have no idea, it's been so long since i ran stock. i know that the 17.5's take a tall gear. i don't remember what we ran on the brushed motors.
just guessing i'd say 26tooth for 17.5 and 21 for brushed, but i may be way off.
